Kay Dawson - Founder / President

In 1974, Kay Dawson began the business that was to become Contemporary Communications, Inc. She was owner and sole employee of Wichita Word Processing. Kay did all the work herself, learning everything she could about word processing, programming, list management, and eventually mailing and the direct mail marketing industry. Under Kay's direction, CCI has grown to become one of the largest lettershops in the region. She has developed a full array of marketing services to meet every need of our direct mail clients.

Kay was determined to be the best in her industry, which she knew meant an investment in the latest technology and an educated, innovative workforce. In 2000, CCI moved to its largest location yet, occupying 87,000 square feet. In 2009, CCI celebrated its 35th anniversary.

Like any service industry, direct mail companies must offer outstanding customer service. In spite of all else, it is the ability to satisfy a customer that will make or break a service based company. Of all the things Kay Dawson has learned in her years in the marketing industry, and what continues to make CCI successful, is the philosophy that great customer service is not a skill to be learned but an attitude that dictates actions.

Shelby Hansard - General Manager

Shelby began his CCI career in 1999 as a machine operator. In 2000 he became a Customer Service Representative. In 2001 Shelby moved into the sales department. Over the next four years, Shelby became the Sales Manager for the company building a large client base. In 2008 Shelby began to deal with the day to day operation of the company and in September 2009, Shelby was promoted to General Manager for Contemporary Communications. Mr. Hansard is currently responsible for daily operations, marketing, sales team, customer service team and continues to serve his original client base.

Marc Palmateer - CFO / Human Resources Manager

Mark Received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business with an Accounting emphasis from Wichita State University. Before coming to CCI, Marc worked for 22 years in the chemical manufacturing industry and franchised businesses in the restaurant and retail industries as Comptroller and Chief Financial Officer.

Terry Brown - Mail Distribution Manager

Terry Brown has worked for Contemporary Communications since 1981. He has held several positions in the company including Production Manager for several years and is currently the Postal Manager. Terry works closely with the USPS to keep up with their ever changing regulations. Prior to working at CCI, Terry attended Kansas University and worked in the restaurant business.

Mike Hoopes - IT Manager

Michael Hoopes has been with CCI since 1988. He originally delivered mail to the Post Office and helped in the lettershop. In 1991, he was promoted to the Data Processing department. Michael was promoted to IT Manager in 2006. He is currently responsible for maintaining, upgrading, and installing current technology infrastructures along with planning and developing future systems.

Dwayne Reiter - Production Manager

Dwayne started in the printing business in 1994 in Greeley, Colorado, where he worked as a temporary employee at a local printing company while attending the University of Northern Colorado. After moving to Wichita, Dwayne worked at a local printing company for about 11 years, starting out as a cutter operator, press room, and eventually into production management. During this time he received a "Certificate of Supervision" from the Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University. In July of 2009, Dwayne transitioned to Contemporary Communications, starting out as a Customer Service Representative. Since that time he has become the Estimator, Print Buyer, and Operations Manager for CCI.
