According to the National Foundation for Women Business Owners - Woman owned businesses are as financially sound and creditworthy as the typical firm in the U.S. economy, and are more likely to remain in business than the average U.S. firm.

IBM, AT&T, Wells Fargo and Merrill Lynch are among the many corporations that recognize the advantage of supporting woman owned businesses.

The Small Business Administration instituted the Frances Perkins Vanguard Award to honor government and industry leaders who excel in providing contracts to woman-owned small businesses. The award is named for the first woman to hold a Cabinet position as Secretary of Labor. The first Frances Perkins Vanguard Award was presented in 1999.
